What this timetable assumes
- School runs Monday to Friday, 7:45 AM to 1:45 PM, with 30 minutes of travel each way. If your school also runs on Saturday, see the FAQ below.
- Coaching runs on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 4:30 to 8:00 PM as two lectures, about 30 minutes from home.
- Lecture rotation (our example): Monday Physics and Maths, Wednesday Chemistry and Physics, Friday Maths and Chemistry, so each subject gets two lectures and two digest sessions a week.
- Sleep is 10:30 PM to 6:15 AM on school nights (7 h 45 min) and 8 hours on Friday and Saturday nights.
- Self-study counts only JEE work: recall, sheets, digest blocks, the maths drill, NCERT reading, self-tests and the error log. School homework, coaching hours and planning time are counted separately.
- The school follows CBSE's 2026–27 Class XI syllabus. State-board students should check their own board's unit list.
- JEE Main is more than a year away (the 2028 cycle for students in Class 11 in 2026–27, which NTA hasn't scheduled), so the hours are set for steady foundations, not exam-season intensity.
- The 8–10 question same-night target, the 30-minute maths drill twice a week, the Saturday test (about six questions per subject in 75 minutes), the 45-minute test check and the error-log redo dates (3 and 7 days after a mistake) are our planning choices, not coaching or NTA rules.
- The weekly totals (18 h 40 min of self-study, 10 h 30 min of coaching, 5 hours of school homework) are sums of this grid, not recommended minimums.
How does this timetable split the week around school and coaching?
Each coaching evening is paired with a digest afternoon the next day: Monday's lectures are reworked on Tuesday, Wednesday's on Thursday and Friday's on Saturday. Every lecture gets a second, slower pass within a day, and Sunday stays light.
On a coaching day the evening belongs to the institute, so self-study is short: a 20-minute recall before school, a 20-minute skim of the day's topic and 45 minutes on the sheets after dinner. Our daily JEE timetable guide plans about 4 hours on a coaching day because its classes end at 7 PM; a batch ending at 8 PM leaves about an hour before wind-down.
| Day type | Days | Coaching | JEE self-study | School homework |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Coaching day | Mon, Wed, Fri | 3 h 30 min | 1 h 25 min | 40 min |
| Digest day | Tue, Thu | none | 4 h 05 min | 45 min |
| Saturday | Sat | none | 4 h 45 min | 1 h 30 min |
| Sunday (light) | Sun | none | 1 h 30 min | none |
| Week | 7 days | 10 h 30 min | 18 h 40 min | 5 h |
These are planning figures. If your school or batch times differ, move the blocks first, then use the study hours calculator to check the weekly total against your pending chapters.
Why does Class 11 carry so much of the JEE Main syllabus?
Because much of what JEE Main tests is taught in Class 11. NTA's 2026 syllabus has 20 Physics units, 20 Chemistry units and 14 Maths units. Physics Units 1–10, from Units and Measurements to Oscillations and Waves, line up in the same order with the ten units of CBSE's 2026–27 Class XI Physics syllabus. All nine Class XI Chemistry units appear in NTA's list too; Redox Reactions shares a unit with Electrochemistry there.
In the 2026 pattern, Paper 1 had 75 questions, 25 in each subject, with +4 for a correct answer and −1 for a wrong one. NTA hadn't published a 2027 information bulletin when we checked, so treat this as the latest official pattern and recheck it when your year's bulletin is out.
So the long blocks here go to finishing each sheet properly: a chapter left half-understood now returns in Class 12, when boards and mocks compete for the same hours. Tick off what coaching has covered on the JEE Main syllabus summary.
What should you do on the night of a coaching class?
Attempt the first 8–10 questions of that day's sheets before bed, then stop. The aim is to find out, while the lecture is fresh, which ideas you didn't follow; finishing the sheet can wait for the digest afternoon.
Put each stuck question on the doubt list with one line on where you got stuck. The next afternoon's digest block starts there: re-derive the lecture's key results from your notes, clear what you can, carry the rest to the next class, then finish the sheet against a timer. Skipping the same-night attempt lets sheets pile up; finishing everything that night costs sleep before a 6:15 alarm.
Why is there a maths drill on digest days?
Because Class 11 Physics uses maths tools that school Maths teaches later. CBSE's 2026–27 Physics syllabus brings "elementary concepts of differentiation and integration" into Motion in a Straight Line and covers scalar and vector products in Motion in a Plane. Its Class XI Maths calculus unit covers only Limits and Derivatives; integrals and vectors arrive in Class XII Maths.
Your coaching may teach these tools early; if it doesn't, a 30-minute drill twice a week keeps the gap from slowing your mechanics: differentiate and integrate simple powers, resolve vectors into components, and practise the trig identities that inclined-plane and projectile problems use. Once your Maths lectures cover these tools, turn the slot into extra Maths sheet practice.
Where do school tests and practicals fit?
In the weekday homework slots and the 90-minute Saturday block. CBSE's 2026–27 Class XI Physics exam is 70 marks of theory and 30 of practicals, and the record you submit at the annual exam needs at least 8 experiments, 6 activities and a project report, so practical files need steady weekly time. The lab work counts for JEE too: NTA's syllabus ends Physics with Experimental Skills and Chemistry with Principles Related to Practical Chemistry.
| When this happens | Change this | Keep this |
|---|---|---|
| School unit test this week | The digest day before it becomes school revision | Same-night sheet attempt |
| Half-yearly or annual exams | School revision takes the digest blocks; pause the maths drill and the Saturday test | Morning recall and the Sunday break |
| Coaching holds a Sunday test | Drop Saturday's self-test and use the slot for backlog | Sunday afternoon off |
| Two or more sheets behind | Saturday's backlog block takes the oldest sheet first | Sleep times |
When will you actually sit JEE Main?
Not in Class 11. NTA's 2026 bulletin opened JEE Main to candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025 or were appearing in Class 12 in 2026, with no age limit. If that rule holds, a student in Class 11 in 2026–27 can first sit JEE Main in the 2028 cycle, which NTA hasn't scheduled. NTA's tentative calendar lists Session 1 for the batch a year ahead of you on 22–24 and 28–30 January 2027.
In 2026 JEE Main ran in two sessions, January and April, and candidates who wrote both were ranked on the better of their two total NTA scores. Use this year for foundations: a steady 18–19 hour week leaves room to add hours in Class 12. The JEE preparation hub covers the two-year picture.
Frequently asked questions
Class 11 mein coaching ke saath roz kitne ghante self-study karni chahiye?
This timetable plans about 1 hour 25 minutes on coaching days, about 4 hours on school-only days, 4 hours 45 minutes on Saturday and 1 hour 30 minutes on Sunday: roughly 18–19 hours a week beside 10.5 hours of coaching. Coaching days are short because this batch ends at 8 PM. These are planning assumptions, so check them against the sheets and chapters you actually have pending.
Can a Class 11 student write JEE Main for practice?
Not under the 2026 rules. NTA's 2026 information bulletin allowed candidates who passed Class 12 in 2024 or 2025 or were appearing in Class 12 in 2026. A Class 11 student isn't in that group, so practise with timed self-tests on finished chapters instead.
Coaching ka Sunday test hai, toh timetable kaise change karein?
Let the coaching test replace Saturday's self-test and give that Saturday slot to backlog. On Sunday, write the test, then log mistakes by cause the way Saturday's 45-minute check does, and keep the afternoon free so the week still has one lighter day.
What if my school also runs on Saturday?
Move Saturday's deep block on Friday's lectures to Sunday morning, shorten the weekly review to fit, and run the self-test every other week. Keep Sunday afternoon and evening free, so the week still has a lighter half-day and Monday starts rested.
