The IITs haven't announced JEE Advanced 2027. JEE Advanced 2026 was held on Sunday, 17 May 2026, so mid-to-late May 2027 is the working assumption. Until the date is official, this page counts to 1 May 2027.
You can only register after clearing JEE Main Paper 1, so this is a three-step countdown: JEE Main Session 1 in January, Session 2 expected in April, then Advanced. In 2026, Advanced came 39 days after the last Session 2 exam day.
What JEE Advanced 2027 tests
- Two compulsory papers, Paper 1 and Paper 2, each three hours long, on the same day.
- Question types and marking schemes change from year to year; each paper's instructions set them out. For 2026, the organisers said the pattern would stay consistent with previous years.
- For 2026, you had to be among the top 2,50,000 candidates in JEE Main Paper 1 (across all categories) and meet the other criteria listed on jeeadv.ac.in.
- JEE Advanced 2026 was organised by IIT Roorkee; the organising IIT changes every year.

Prepare for JEE Main and Advanced together: finish every chapter, and push depth on the ones you're strong in, because Advanced rewards solving unfamiliar, multi-concept problems.
Compare the two syllabi chapter by chapter; Advanced includes some chapters that JEE Main has dropped.
101–150 days left
Shift towards the JEE Main format for Session 1 (22–30 January): timed 75-question papers and accuracy work. A strong Main score is your entry ticket.
61–100 days left
Write JEE Main Session 1, then take a day to review it honestly. Class 12 students move into board exams after that; keep a few Advanced-level problems going each week so the depth doesn't fade.
31–60 days left
If you need Session 2 (expected in April), give it a short focused run. Otherwise, start full Advanced papers: Paper 1 and Paper 2 back to back on the same day, as in the real exam.
Last 30 days
Once Session 2 is behind you (if you're writing it), it's Advanced only: two full same-day paper pairs a week with careful review, and formulas and your error log on the other days.
Read each mock paper's marking instructions before starting, as you will on the day: partial marking and negative marking differ by question type.
