ICAI has scheduled CA Intermediate January 2027 Group I papers on 2, 4 and 6 January and Group II papers on 8, 10 and 12 January 2027. Every paper is three hours long and starts at 2 PM.
If you're writing both groups, your countdown ends on 2 January, but your revision has to carry all six papers through to the 12th.
What CA Intermediate January 2027 tests
- Six papers of 100 marks in two groups. Group I: Advanced Accounting; Corporate and Other Laws; Taxation (Income-tax Law 50 marks, GST 50 marks).
- Group II: Cost and Management Accounting; Auditing and Ethics; Financial Management and Strategic Management (50 marks each).
- Every paper has 30% case-scenario or case-study based MCQs and 70% descriptive questions.
- There's no negative marking on the MCQs.
- To pass a group, you need at least 40% in each of its papers and 50% in the group's aggregate, in one sitting. Passing both groups together on a combined 50% aggregate also counts.

Finish first reading of every paper you're writing. Check which amendments and standards ICAI's Board of Studies has notified as applicable for the January 2027 exams, especially for Taxation, before you make revision notes.
46–80 days left
Start the first revision group by group, finishing one paper's revision before opening the next so nothing stays half-done.
Write full descriptive answers by hand for Law and Audit, with section references, since 70% of each paper is descriptive.
16–45 days left
Second revision alongside ICAI's Mock Test Papers and Revision Test Papers, written in three hours.
The MCQ portion has no negative marking, so practise answering every MCQ within your time budget and leave enough time for the descriptive part.
4–15 days left
Do a fast third revision from your own notes, with extra time on the papers that sit closest to 40% in your mocks.
Plan the exam fortnight now: which paper you revise on each free day between papers, through to 12 January.
Last 3 days and the exam fortnight
Revise only the next paper on the free day before it. Keep one summary sheet per paper: formats, key sections and formulas.
Between the groups, reset quickly. Group II starts on 8 January, two days after the last Group I paper.

CA Inter January 2027 exam dates kya hain?

Is there negative marking in CA Intermediate?
No. ICAI's FAQs say the MCQs in the Intermediate exam carry no negative marking. MCQs make up 30% of each paper.
How do I pass CA Intermediate?
Score at least 40% in each paper of a group and 50% in that group's aggregate, in one sitting. If you write both groups, you can also pass both together with at least 40% in every paper and 50% across all six papers.
Can I write only one group in January 2027?
Yes. The two groups can be attempted separately, and ICAI's pass rules are set per group.
