CLAT 2027 countdown: days left

—

days left

The Consortium of National Law Universities will hold CLAT 2027 on Sunday, 6 December 2026, from 2 PM to 4 PM, in offline mode. Applications close on 31 October 2026.

It's called CLAT 2027 because it's for admissions in the 2027–28 academic year, so “CLAT 2027” and “the December 2026 CLAT” are the same exam.

What CLAT 2027 tests

  • 120 multiple-choice questions of 1 mark each, to be answered in 2 hours.
  • 0.25 marks are deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Approximate share of questions: English Language about 20%, Current Affairs including General Knowledge about 25%, Legal Reasoning about 25%, Logical Reasoning about 20%, Quantitative Techniques about 10%.
  • Most sections are built on passages of around 450 words. Legal Reasoning needs no prior knowledge of law: you apply the principles given in the passage.
  • Quantitative Techniques uses 10th-standard maths (ratios, basic algebra, mensuration, statistical estimation) on numerical passages.
  • If two candidates tie, higher marks in the legal section break the tie first.

Your CLAT 2027 plan by days left

More than 50 days left

Read every day: a newspaper's editorial and news pages plus one long-form article, timed, with a two-line summary afterwards. Every section is built on passages or sets of facts, so reading speed counts across the whole paper.

Build current-affairs notes month by month in a format you can revise quickly later.

31–50 days left

Start full mocks, one or two a week, in 2 hours with negative marking. Track passages attempted and accuracy for each section, not just the total.

In Legal Reasoning, train yourself to answer from the principle given in the passage, even when it differs from what you think the law is.

15–30 days left

Two mocks a week, each followed by analysis. Revise your current-affairs notes weekly instead of collecting new sources.

Fix a section order and a rule for when to move on from a passage that isn't working, and use both in every mock.

4–14 days left

Taper to a mock every three or four days, at 2 PM if you can, to match the exam slot.

Since the paper is offline, practise marking answers on a sheet within the 2 hours rather than only on screen.

Last 3 days

No new material. Light revision of current-affairs notes and of mock passages you got wrong.

The exam starts at 2 PM, so keep your sleep and meal times normal, and reach the centre early with your admit card.
