NTA hasn't announced the NEET UG 2027 date. The 2026 exam was held on Sunday, 3 May 2026; after it was cancelled, NTA held a re-exam on 21 June 2026. Until the 2027 notice is out, this page counts to 1 May 2027, so the countdown errs on the early side.
The format may change too. In May 2026 the Union Education Minister announced, and NTA told the Supreme Court, that NEET UG would move from pen and paper to a computer-based test from 2027. Since then the Centre has told the Court that the switch is still under consideration and will be decided after the Nilekani task force reports, so the mode, days and shifts will only be settled by NTA's 2027 information bulletin.
What NEET UG 2027 tests
- 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions in 180 minutes: 45 in Physics, 45 in Chemistry and 90 in Biology (Botany and Zoology), for 720 marks.
- A correct answer earns 4 marks, a wrong one loses 1, and an unanswered question scores 0.
- The syllabus is set by the National Medical Commission and published by NTA.
- This was the 2026 paper, written with pen and paper. The 2027 bulletin will confirm the pattern and whether the test is computer-based.

Finish coverage of every chapter in the current NMC syllabus, NCERT first, and check it against the official list, since several older chapters have been dropped.
Biology is half the paper, so give it a fixed daily slot, and keep Physics numericals going every day so they don't go cold.
91–150 days left
Start one full 180-question test a week, in 180 minutes. Until NTA confirms the mode, take some of these on a screen and some on an OMR sheet so either format feels familiar.
Class 12 students: plan around the board exams, expected from mid-February. Board and NEET Biology and Chemistry overlap heavily, so revise them once for both.
46–90 days left
Two full tests a week. Keep an error log split into concept gaps, NCERT lines you missed, and silly mistakes, and revise it every few days.
Re-read NCERT Biology line by line in this phase and add every line you'd missed to the error log.
15–45 days left
Alternate full tests with revision days. Count the marks each test loses to wrong answers; cutting careless errors is one of the quickest gains left.
Check NTA's site weekly for the 2027 notice, city slip and admit card dates.
Last 14 days
No new books or topics. Revise from your own notes and error log, with one or two full tests at the exam's time of day.
Read the admit card instructions closely: if the 2027 exam is computer-based, the reporting time and what you can carry may differ from earlier years.

October to early May is about six and a half months. That's enough for a full revision and regular tests if you've covered most of the syllabus once; if large parts are untouched, prioritise Biology and the chapters you can finish fastest.
