CAT 2026 is on Sunday, 29 November 2026. IIM Indore is conducting it this year, in three sessions on the same day at centres in about 170 cities. Your session and centre are printed on your admit card.
The IIMs don't publish a chapter-wise syllabus. They publish the test format below and a mock exam on the CAT website, so the final weeks are about timed sections and mock analysis rather than new chapters.
What CAT 2026 tests
- The test lasts 120 minutes and has three sections: Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA).
- Each section gets exactly 40 minutes, and you can't switch to another section while one is running.
- It's computer-based, held in three sessions on 29 November.
- A mock exam on iimcat.ac.in shows the real interface. Take it at least once before test day.

More than 45 days left
Finish the quant and reasoning basics you've been putting off, and fix a mock schedule: one full mock a week plus sectional tests.
Stick to one mock series so your scores are comparable from week to week.
31–45 days left
Move to two full mocks a week, and spend at least as long analysing each mock as taking it. For every question, note whether you should have attempted it, skipped it, or lost it to a fixable error.
With a fixed 40 minutes per section, practise leaving a stubborn DILR set early instead of sinking a quarter of the section into it.
15–30 days left
Keep two or three mocks a week and stop learning new methods. Build a short list of question types you reliably solve in each section: that list is your attempt strategy.
Keep reading every day so your VARC reading speed doesn't slip.
8–14 days left
Take the official mock on the CAT website to get used to the interface. Cut back to one or two full mocks, at your session's time of day once you know it.
Revise formulas and your error log rather than starting anything new.
Last 7 days
No new mock series. One light mock early in the week, then error-log revision and rest.
Download the admit card, check the route to your centre and what you're allowed to carry, and keep the day before the exam free.

Yes, mostly through better question selection and accuracy rather than new topics. With a fixed 40 minutes per section, how you choose questions inside each section moves the score more in the final weeks than new theory does.
