UPSC's calendar for 2027 has two NDA & NA sittings: NDA (I) on Sunday, 11 April 2027 and NDA (II) on Sunday, 19 September 2027, each on the same day as the CDS exam. The NDA (I) notification is due on 2 December 2026 and applications close on 22 December, so this page counts to 11 April first. UPSC notes that calendar dates can change.
Each sitting has its own notification and application: for NDA (II), 12 May to 1 June 2027. If September is your target, the plan below works the same way counted back from 19 September. Students still in Class 12 can apply, so keep your board exam dates next to this plan.
Split every week between Mathematics and GAT from the start. GAT carries 600 of the 900 written marks, so a plan that is all Maths until the last month leaves two-thirds of the paper for later.
Finish first coverage of the Maths chapters in the notification's syllabus, and start reading the news daily for the current-events part of GAT.
Applications close on 22 December, early in this stretch, so fill in the form as soon as the notification is out on 2 December.
Start timed sectional practice from UPSC's previous NDA papers (on upsc.gov.in): Maths sets against the clock, English and General Knowledge sets on other days. Keep a short file of the General Knowledge facts you keep forgetting and revise it weekly.
Take one full mock a week in the real order: Mathematics in the morning, GAT in the afternoon. Go through every wrong answer; with a one-third penalty, cutting blind guesses is worth marks.
If your board exams fall in this stretch, keep at least one Maths session and one GAT session going each week so neither paper goes cold.
Two full mocks a week at the real timings. Between them, revise Maths formulas and your General Knowledge notes, and stop opening new sources.
No new topics. One light mock early in the week, then formula and error-log revision. Keep your sleep times fixed for the morning paper.
Download the e-admit card when UPSC uploads it, check your centre and reporting time, and carry only what it allows.
UPSC's calendar for 2027 lists two sittings: NDA & NA (I) on Sunday, 11 April 2027 and NDA & NA (II) on Sunday, 19 September 2027. UPSC says calendar dates can change, so check each notification when it's out.
UPSC's calendar lists 2 December 2026 for the NDA & NA (I) 2027 notification, with applications closing on 22 December 2026. For NDA (II), the notification is due on 12 May 2027 and applications close on 1 June 2027.
Yes. UPSC's NDA notification lets students who are appearing in Class 12 apply. The Army wing needs a Class 12 pass; the Air Force and Naval wings and the Naval Academy's 10+2 cadet entry need Class 12 with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Check the 2027 notification for the birth-date window.
The written exam is out of 900: Mathematics 300 and GAT 600. The SSB tests carry another 900, and the final list is drawn up on the total of the two, out of 1,800.
